Substitute Lesson
Today you will operate a mouse, left click, click and drag, double-click, and open and close websites, programs, and tabs. We will watch a computer mouse video and when complete I will show you how to play mouse activities at your computer. To play the mouse games you will need to click on the picture to the left just as I show you.
Week 1Welcome back to school! I am so glad to have you in my class this year. My name is Ms. Clayton and you will learn so much about technology and computers in my class.

Week 1 (part2)Today we will discuss lab expectations and rewards. I will introduce parts of a computer so that you can identify each part and assign your computer seats for the year.
Once at your seat you may choice an activity on PBS Kids and click the PBS kids logo to return to the home page to choose other games. |
Week 2Today we will discuss parts of a computer. We will use digital flashcards to name each part of a computer and some small devices with computer like systems that make them work.
You will also learn about the Mansfield Acceptable Use Policy. The MAUP is in place to protect students and schools. When students follow the policy you agree to use only appropriate sites and to report inappropriate items seen on the computer to your teachers. Photo Source |
Week 2 (part 2)We will review parts of a computer and the MISD Acceptable Use Policy. Students will complete the lesson of which we will name each part of a computer whole group.
Once complete I will read half of Kermit Learns How Computers Work by Margy Kuntz. Students will share what they learned on a Popplet page. Photo Source |
week 3 (part 2)Today we will review behaviors and expectations of a digital citizens. Students will give examples of model computer expectations. I will read the remaining half of Kermit Learns How Computers Work by Margy Kuntz. Students will practice mouse coordination skills with Mini Mouse games online. Photo Source |
Week 4We will begin by watching "The Magic School Bus Get Programmed".
This week you will learn how to follow directions by opening desktop shortcuts and playing Tina's World, Isa's Garden, and Wubbzy Gardening. You will exercise these skills by playing the games which will require you to listen closely so that you may play along. Photo Source: Google Image |

Week 5 (part 1)Students will learn safe and responsible use of social networking websites, electronic mail, instant messaging, and other methods of communication on the internet. Students will explain ways to be safer online.

Week 5 (part 2)Today we will continue to practice mouse skills and learn about the desktop. I will also be reading "The Computer Teacher from the Black Lagoon" by Suzanne Collins. In the next class, we will continue to practice mouse skills by completing the phonics games. Alphabet Soup and Professor Garfield games will be used.
