Day 2Welcome back! Today you will be creating folders, completing student inventories, and familiarizing yourself with our required online accounts in preparation for the school year. Please complete the tasks in the order listed below.

Day 3I am so thankful that Charlotte Anderson is filled with so many amazing citizens and kids with character. What makes you a good citizen? Today we will compare responsibilities of offline and online communities. We will reflect on characteristics of good citizens. We will also construct solutions to digital problems. Day 4Hello everyone! Today you will be creating accessing your Google Drive and Google Classroom accounts. Google Drive has online storage (cloud storage) that you can access anywhere. Google Classroom is a collaboration tool for teachers and students. Google Classroom will give you paperless access to assignments, grades, and creativity tools.
1. You will reset your passwords. 2. Login to Google Drive. 3. Open Google Classroom. 4. Join your classes. 5. Reply to the assigned post. 6. ALWAYS log out of Google when finished. See links for both Google Drive and Google Classroom on the homepage. |
Day 5Today we will discuss digital citizenship, guarding your personal information, and being kind online? When finished you will complete the assessment below using Common Sense Media.

Day 6Part 2: You will create a Digital Super Hero comic. Your superhero must encounter a problem (ie: inappropriate device usage or students who choose not to follow digital safety rules). Your superhero has to find a solution to this problem in order to correct the behavior. Inform them of the problem and a solution that saves the day.
You will sign into Google Classroom to use the Powtoon App. I will model how to create a superhero presentation. |
2nd Six Weeks
Today you will learn the essential skills which make keyboarding important. The keyboarding techniques shared will assist you in productivity, speed, and accuracy when typing.
Each class period will be dedicated to keyboarding practice lessons on Typing Agent. Practice makes great improvement! I will review Typing Agent expectations, goals, and progress monitoring. You will practice keyboarding lessons in Unit 1. Take the Pre-Assessment here. Share your current WPM with Ms. Clayton in the Google Classroom post. |
Today we will continue practicing proper keyboarding techniques. I will be observing to ensure that you use correct finger positioning, posture, and home row typing skills. I will use a keyboarding skills resource to model proper typing techniques.
You will practice typing agent lesson training for 10 minutes using Typing agent. You will then access your Google Classroom accounts. Today we will use Google Docs to create a document describing an animal of your choice. You will write a heading, insert an image, and write a minimum of 4 sentences about this animal. |
Day 3Today, we will continue practicing keyboarding techniques in Typing Agent. You will use proper posture, finger to key position, and consistency to meet your typing goals.

Day 4Keyboarding & Word Processing Continued
Today we will continue practicing keyboarding skills. Monitor yourself as you type. Are you reaching your goals? Is your accuracy above 90%? Can you challenge yourself beyond the 20 WPM typing goal? Afterwards, we will watch "Dear, Mr. Blueberry". Using Google Docs you will write a letter thanking someone on our campus. Think about the teachers, administrators, and other campus personnel that make our school a great place to come to each day. 3rd Six Weeks
Day 1
What is Coding? This six weeks we will learn how coding relates to writing steps that make our computer programs and applications work. We will write algorithms that detail exactly how to perform each step in order to make something work. Before writing directions we will learn how to use symbols to instruct characters and build games throughout this six weeks. We will use steps in algorithm to instruct our classmates on how to dance. Today you will code the Foos to solve puzzles that teach fundamental computer science strategies like sequencing and loops.

Day 3
Kids can code! Watch this video of 12 year old developer, Thomas Suarez. He is an app developer with apps available in the App Store for iOS devices. He was interested in computers and pushed himself to learn more.
You are being exposed to web applications, programs, and tools that will give you skills in order to make your ideas and dreams reality. You can be like Thomas! Day 4
Why do we code? Computers can't think for itself. We code using words and numbers. Today we will use the Hour of Code website and I will give your usernames and passwords so that you can begin coding lessons on Code.org.

Day 5
Today you will create an account on Scratch using the link below. You may choose a step by step tutorial to follow, however you must share you final results with the class.

4th Six Weeks
Week 1This six weeks you will be conducting online research assignments. You will learn how to source and cite reliable and accurate information. Today we will watch Tips for Online Research.
You will research historical figures using proper research tools. This assignment will be located in Google Classroom. |
Week 2Historical Figures Research
Today we will begin by practicing 10 minutes in Typing Agent. Following this practice you will reset Google account passwords as directed. This class period you will use a Google Slides presentation to input information about a historical figure. You and your partner will be assigned one of the 6 figure listed below. Together you will research information to provide answers to the questions on your presentation. Turn in when done. Week 5Presentation Tools and Internet Research
Today you will be using Prezi. It is a presentation tool which allows you to control the effects, motions, and interest of your viewers. It has many skill levels from beginner to advanced. Today you will be researching the history of the Olympics. You will use a Prezi timeline to create and share a presentation with your teacher and class. |
5th Six Weeks

Today you will use creativity and internet research skills to create a poster celebrating Texas Independence Day, which is March 2nd. We will begin by reviewing internet safety. As you navigate the web you must protect yourself, your household, and your computer devices. We will watch background information to learn about the independence of Texas. Week 2Today you will create a story in Microsoft Word. We will create story outlines in order to produce a personal narrative containing a beginning, middle, and end. Find an illustration to pair with your work when done. You will submit your assignment in Google Classroom.

6th Six Weeks
Week 1
Today you will spend 10 minutes keyboarding in Typing Agent . You will also observe and discuss an internet safety video about downloading things to their computer.
Creativity: You will interact with the website Draw a Stickman. Students begin by drawing a stickman and then adding objects requested by website. |

If time permits you will also add transitions and animations to each slide.
I will model for you how I created my "About Ms. Clayton" Power Point. To begin today's assignment you will open a new presentation in Power Point on the desktop. You will save your work in Edmodo as "About ______"
