Day 2
What is Coding? This six weeks we will learn how coding relates to writing steps that make our computer programs and applications work. We will write algorithms that detail exactly how to perform each step in order to make something work. Before writing directions we will learn how to use symbols to instruct characters and build games throughout this six weeks.
We will use steps in algorithm to instruct our classmates on how to dance. |
Day 3
Today you will complete another coding activities. Think of coding as giving directions to your computer. You are training your computer to achieve a result just as you would train a puppy. We will watch this video to review, 'what is coding?'. Click on the picture and use your coding skills to help the puppy get back home. Intro to Coding: Hour of Code Coding Steps vs. Baking Steps |
Day 4
Kids can code too! Meet the world's youngest known app developer. At just 9 years old she created an app and you can too.
You can begin to learn to code and create applications or programs of your own by thinking like a programmer. We are using applications that allow you to use critical thinking skills. Use these ideas to make games or apps of your own in the future. |

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Why do we code? Computers can't think for itself. We code using words and numbers. Today we will use the Hour of Code website and I will give your usernames and passwords so that you can begin coding lessons on Code.org.
